Israeli Farmers Grow Worlds Largest Strawberry which are 289 grams. The Guinness World Record (GWR) recently heralded an Israeli farmer for growing the largest strawberry in the world. Ariel Chahi grew a supersized strawberry, of the Ilan variety, that weighed a whopping 289 g (10.19 oz) in his family’s strawberry field located in Kadima-Zoran, Israel.

Ariel Chahi from Kadima-Zoran in Israel grew a gigantic strawberry that weighed 289 grams. The berry had a weight of 299 grams with stem and The Guinness World Records confirmed it to be the world’s heaviest strawberry or Worlds Largest Strawberry.

According to The Guinness World Records, this strawberry belongs to the Ilan variety. It was grown by Ariel’s family business called Strawberries in the Field. The Ilan variety of strawberry is known for producing large fruits.

A video shared by the official Instagram handle of The Guinness World Records showed Ariel determining the weight of the fruit.

He first weighed an iPhone XR, which came out to be a total of 194 grams. He then measured the strawberry’s length, breadth and circumference, which came out to be 18 cm, 4 cm and 34 cm respectively.

This is largest strawberry in the world according to Guinness World Records, the previous record for heaviest strawberry was 250 grams. The berry was grown by Koji Nakao in Japan and was weighed in Fukuoka on January 28, 2015.

The largest strawberry producer is China, world production of strawberries was 8.9 million tonnes, led by China with 38% of the total, and the United States and Egypt as other significant producers.

Worldwide 8,885,028 tonnes of strawberry is produced per year.

China is the largest strawberry producer in the world with 3,221,557 tonnes production per year.

United States of America comes second with 1,021,490 tonnes yearly production With 861,337 tonnes of production per year, Mexico is the third largest producer of strawberry.

China, United States of America and Mexico produce together more than 50 % of world’s total strawberry globally.
