|The Li lab is seeking qualified candidates for a Data Scientist for cancer epidemiology, thromboembolism and data science research within the section of Hematology/Oncology at Baylor. The ideal candidate will have significant experience using Python, R, and R Shiny in multiple analytical applications, such as nonlinear time series analysis, machine learning (for example, binomial/regression models or ensemble models), deep learning (for example, NN, CNN, and RNN), statistics, and NLP. As with any successful analytics project, it all starts with the data, so the Data Scientist should have experience extracting and transforming data from relational databases, i.e., SQL Server, into analytical datasets. We work with population level data, so experience with exceptionally large data sets is a plus. Will be responsible for finding creative solutions to challenges faced by clinical investigators through evidence-based approach.|
|Master’s degree in statistics, science, mathematics or related field.|
Five years of relevant experience.

Understanding of clinical epidemiology and data science research
Familiarity with manuscript writing and submission
Database management skills with high proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, REDCap, SQL

| Provides statistical and data management support to institutional research.|
Completes statistical analyses on new and available data sets.
Collates evaluation data and other quantitative and qualitative data sources.
Facilitates data collection through surveys, focus groups and other methods.
Prepares structured data analyses and reports for presentation.
Performs data analysis and output for manuscripts, presentations, reports, meetings/conferences.
Maintains and updates data dictionary for institutional and national datasets.
Extracts and transforms data from relational databases into analytical datasets.
Utilizes Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning methodologies to perform analysis of clinical databases.
Creates and validates risk prediction models and data visualization.
Utilizes natural language processing methodologies to extract free text from medical records.
Works with faculty biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and study investigators to prepare the statistical design for grant proposals.
Processes research information for easier consumption and transforms it into actionable plans.
Contributes to evidence-based processes and procedures for program quality review and assessment of outcomes data.
Supports submissions of academic scholarship for publication and/or presentation through preparation of methods, data presentation and related components.
Assists faculty in executing research projects that promote continuous quality improvement.
